August 7, '00 We just came back from an appointment with Dr. Maykel in Massachusetts. Al’s liver is still clogged so we continue to do more cleansing. They did a mercury test that involved removing some hair from his head and testing it. Al tested with a high mercury count, which they think it is from the fillings in his teeth. Dr. Maykel gave him a supplement to help clear the mercury out of his body. The rest of the sensitivities tested well. He had a few ribs out of joint so they made adjustments that made his shoulder and back feel better. Thank goodness I go with him to these appointments because I found out the ALS has moved into his left arm which Al hadn’t told me about. I know he can feel it, but I’m sure he is trying to spare me. Besides his right hand and arm it is also in his left hand and arm. Dr. Maykel is getting us in touch with Dr. Rene Espy in Woburn, Mass. who does a lot of work with essential fatty acids (EFA) and omega 3. She said that the ALS causes the patients to become like a desert and the EFA dries up. It needs to get back in the brain and spinal cord. Working with this doctor might be our next step. Al is taking the fish oil everyday but it is pretty stinky. This fish oil comes from a plant in Halifax. It is very pure and high grade. Plus we are slowly getting into the Zone Diet, which is fruit, vegetables and low fat protein and eating 6 small meals a day. He still is in pretty good spirits and feels he will beat this. Nicole goes back to college next weekend and the grandsons are going with us to help move her in. She will greatly be missed. I have started doing Reiki for myself which is energy healing. It feels great! She wants to work on Al too but I haven’t talked him into it yet. Thank you for all your love and prayers. |
