Al and I went to Dr. Maykel today -- Al’s blood results were in, so now we find out about the next step of treatment. Al was physically in better shape than our last appointment. His spine alignment, neck, and right shoulder needed only slight adjustments; they only had to do one treatment. But, the strength is his right hand and arm didn’t get better this time; that was a little discouraging. We feel we have slowed the illness down but this reminds us that we haven’t stopped it. He still isn’t having any muscle spasms. His liver is still clogged so he is suppose to do a liver-gallbladder flush with 2 Tablespoons of olive oil each day for 3 weeks plus supplements and detoxin tea. The doctor is trying a new treatment with whey protein powder, fish oil and frozen fruit shakes twice a day - 1/4 of a cup per shake. Sounds "yukky" to me, but I’m sure we will get used to it. (This is all very interesting and a little strange but we are game.) Supposedly, they are having great results with this treatment in patients with MS. Dr. Maykel asked that we get "Week in the Zone" by Dr. Barry Sears, which will explain what we will be doing regarding this treatment.

There is a lot of information about Dr. Sears and the " Zone Diet" on our web page under Health Updates, March 22, 2000. This Zone Diet sounds like the fountain of youth. It is good for your heart, memory, strength, fighting cancer and sex life. What more can we ask for? Dr. Maykel is in direct contact with Dr. Sears plus he is going to do the same treatments to himself, to compare with Al. We will keep you posted. Al is keeping busy trying to lobster. We have two grandsons here for the summer from New Jersey to help him. It’s great to have Nicole home for the summer; she is so much help and moral support. She is busy waitressing this summer. One more year of college, Hooray! I’m busy at work at The Harbor House which is a community center with exercise programs, day care, sailing and summer camps. It's just like a school office and pretty crazy this time of year. We are all still in good spirits and keeping our positive attitude. Thank you for all your prayers, love and support. We send our love.
